I am currently working in an inhouse research group within a UK based IT firm. Could someone guide me as to wat are my chances of trying for IT consulting firms?ThanksAmy

K,It consulting as i have experience of being in a research team that supports the BD efforts of an IT company. The kind of research we do is not technical it is more business focussed but I guess my ability to understand business combined with my research skills would be a strong point to get into IT consulting.Business consulting is also something I am open too.cheersAmy

Hi Amy, Sounds like you would be a good prospect for any of the big IT firms who often offer the whole IT and Bus Consulting packages together. You're IT experience will be valuable in both areas and it's always good to have an understanding of each. Be aware that they will likely require research expertise in the early stages of most projects - i.e. in understanding the client's issues etc. However, in applying, I would make sure you include any further delivery experience you have. In this way, you will cover off the analysis and delivery aspects of the job. Let me know if you need more info. Good luck!
