That's it. no more assessment centres... thank god! now have to decide between offers from logica cmg and capgemini. these are the ways i've weighted it at the moment

logica:

21k plus perks (like the idea of no pension, but 8% towards a deposit on house matched by them) start jan, so get a nice 6 month break after uni, public sector where most big £ contracts are at the moment, 9-5 culture, little time away from the office at hotels etc in the sector i'm in. know someone 3 years into working for space and defence for them who is enjoying the work life balance. unsure about salary & career progression

cap:

21k starting plus perks (health, etc etc... can be taken as salary if want) better regarded company in market place? 100% retention rate on grad scheme last year. talked about £ and career progression honestly, office in woking vs. central london, longer hours expected? more travelling expected?

it's the travel and longer hours that im a bit dubious about with cap... if the salary was acn competitive fair enough, but it sounds they want you contract signed in blood for the same amount of money? open to the floor -)

Surprised

I am flabberghasted that the CG pay is only 21k. They used to offer 26-28k to new starts, much the same way as Accenture and deloitteCons.
Bear in mind that CG has had some pretty serious issues post merger and also with its general structure and strategy (late on the outsourcing tip!!), so has been laying off more than some of its competitors.
Logica is a pretty good company- solid reputation in IT, it also suffered issues post merger, but has seemingly done ok recently.
My advice would be to go with where u felt most comfortable- both places are going to look good on your CV, with good chances to move into industry should you wish.
Personally i would choose CG as they are slightly more reputable.

Well done for getting two offers! I would go with CapGem everytime. I work for a large competitor of both of these companies and I am VERY wary of touching people with a background in Logica.

@RecruitGal - why wary of people from a logica background?

The quality of people from Logica coming through my assessments are not good. Cap people on the other hand, are generally pretty good - on top of industry developments, better trained, normally have better client/project experience. My Recruiting Managers are also wary of Logica people... they don't have a great reputation in the marketplace.

Recruitgal - Can I ask who you work for? I don't expect you to give a clear answer but is it a big 4? And if so, do you look for business or IT consultants? Always good to have these type of contacts come annual review!

Hi, I would choose Cap. to Logica, especially if you plan to study further- MBA, CMC, PhD, etc. I heard from friends that in most of the cases they cover the tuition costs. I have an assessment centre with Cap. in Edinburgh and would like to ask you if the case study they sent you was similar to that on the A. D.?
