Hello guys. Im currently in big 4 audit. im hoping to transfer to the corporate finance / ts / restructuring line after i qualify. Ive heard that people have successfullly transferred to advisory / cf / ts / mc (some permanent and some on secondment) however what ive always wondered is how are they able to be useful to the team having only done audit before? i assume the client is billed for them as they would for a 3/4 year however the person will have the same amount of knoweldge as a 1st year? I was told that most of the teams are comprised of these transferring 3/4th years with them usually having little amounts of 1st years, so they get a chance to learn the technicals...however that kind of doesnt make sense to me....to maximise my chances to getting a transfer i plan on spending the next 3 years reading books by rosenbaum, damodoran and a few others as well as completing courses such as Breaking INto Wallstreet etc to learn the excel technical knowledge that i would need.Ive also been researching the possibility of taking the Certificate in Corporate Finance (CISI) and then the Diploma in Corporate Finance to supplement my ACA.is there anything else I could do to make myself a more attractive hire / candidate for internal transfer?long term my plan is to do 3 years audit, 3 years cf / restructuring then leave as a manager level to possibly do MBA then see how competitive my profile is...my office only has a audit & tax department so i cant really ask anyone.would appreciate the help/advice!thank you.
