The Company

Our client s a well-established, profitable, London based, boutique executive search, assessment and leadership advisory firm, focused on serving publicly quoted, privately owned and PE backed organisations in the Transportation, global Industrial, Technology and Digital Transformation markets including:
- Maritime and Ports
- Industrials 
- Engineering 

The business has developed a reputation for high quality search and advisory services. Based in the City of London, with offices in Houston, Lagos, Dubai and Paris, the business employs 15 people and is already planning to take advantage of the post-Covid economic rebound with revenues expected to double within the next 5 years. As a result of these ambitious growth plans, the business is seeking Associates to join the firm in London, to work with the Directors and learn from them with the intention of developing them to Director (Partner) level.

Consultant Role & Responsibilities

The Consultant role reports to a Director, and will focus on specific market specialisms through executing executive searches for clients under the tutelage of the Director. 

Through executing circa 12-15 projects, which will have been sold by others, every year, to the highest quality, an Associate will have the opportunity to develop a sophisticated network at the highest levels which, combined with strong relationship skills, should lead to promotion to Associate Director once repeat business begins to flow and ultimately, to Director. 

Reporting to one of the Directors, you will play a pivotal role in the successful and profitable development of the company through 

• Execution

o Delivery of multiple projects in parallel, with a high standard of quality as lead consultant.
o Delivering an outstanding search process including:

 Pitching and winning the work alongside colleagues
 Researching the client and the industry in which it operates
 Taking the brief – developing the role specification
 Developing the search strategy
 Sourcing candidates
 Interviewing and developing candidate reports for clients
 Preparing and communicating weekly update reports
 Short-list development
 Psychometric testing and assessment 
 Referencing
 Offer negotiation
 Completion
 Client & candidate follow up

o Once the search process has been learnt and is fully understood, access to research support will become available 
o Ensuring that the opportunity for repeat business is maximised through developing relationships with candidates and clients and delivering an outstanding service
o Executing end-to-end projects on behalf of the Directors
o Multi-tasking on multiple projects at one time
o Time management – organising yourself to be able to dedicate time to Execution and, over time, the BD opportunities that arise from execution, in order to hit targets and maintain quality
o Utilising the database for project management to ensure that IP is well documented and available to others

• Practice focus – whilst initially you will learn the business through executing a variety of projects across a number of markets, ultimately, you will be encouraged to focus your efforts on developing a ‘major’ Practice area and where appropriate, a ‘minor’, which could be a functional specialism.

• Self-development and training: The company will work with you to ensure that you have a personal development plan in place and are continually learning and developing
• Promotion to Associate Director should be achievable after two years, particularly if clients that you have worked with are approaching you with repeat business. You will then be encouraged to engage in client development and fee generation alongside your execution responsibilities:
o The team will work with you to create your business plan for the profitable development of your area of specialism. This will include client retention, client acquisition, touch points, marketing, PR and driving relationships with clients that lead to new business and will include:
o developing appropriate existing clients and seeking out new clients
o developing IP that positions you as an adviser to your chosen market
o developing a Practice marketing plan to include PR, events, IP and touch points
o leveraging colleagues to maximise the success of your practice

Success as an Associate will be defined by:
• Exceptional quality of execution of 12-15 projects per annum
• 10 completions per annum

• Collaboration and communication across the business

Ideal Candidate
Degree educated, you will already be working with clients in a professional services environment and will be able to demonstrate:

• Management consulting experience gained from a reputable firm
• Excellent client service focus
• A collegiate, team oriented approach to work
• Self-motivation
• High levels of resilience, drive and urgency
• A commercial mind-set, strategic thinking and the ability to develop relationships with, and operate at C-Suite level
• Inquisitive and problem solving abilities
• The desire to excel and put in the effort to succeed
• Experience or interest in the Industrials, Maritime, Ports or Engineering sectors 
• Native or fluent level of business English
