At the risk of sounding silly... advice appreciated.Few months ago, while traveling to Thailand, I got a made-to-measure suit. As it was my first try with this tailor, I ordered only 1 suit (had 2 visits: initial one followed up by fitting). A moth later suit was delivered to me by FedEx and turned out to be excellent. So now I'd like to order 2 new suits. If the tailor has all my measurements, is it ok to order 2 new suits without the fitting? I.e. order exactly the same suits as the first one (just different colour).P.S. I'm an MBA student on a loan so cannot afford flying there just to buy a suit.P.S.S. I am very slim so cannot buy regular suit and redo it. It must be tailor made.

Hi Adam, first, well done for recognising that asking for advice in this situation may make you sound silly.I've tried to help out a bit (my advice is below) but at the risk of sounding rude I have to say that you've confused me somewhat here me old mucker. First, the advice - Let's take a quick look at the facts. You have a suit, it fits nicely, you are slim and you would like two further suits which are identical in every way other than the colour. The suits will need to be purchased from a tailor in Thailand where you purchased the original suit. You cannot fly back for a second fitting and you need to know whether it is possible for you to order exactly the same suits if the tailor already has all your measurements. One possible solution could be to contact the shop and ask them the question. Ok, so far, so good. Now for the confusing bit. You are studying for an MBA.

Mr. Advice - I suspect the question was not asking something quite as simple as "does the shop offer this service". I'm guessing it has more to do with a typical tailor's ability to recreate a second perfectly fitting suit based on the same set of measurements. The shop will most likely say "yes, no problem, we have your measurements. Send us lots of money and we'll send you a perfectly fitting suit". But the point of the original question is - are tailors able to make a suit based on measurements that fits perfectly. I would say the answer is: unlikely. I've had replica trousers made from an example pair, and still needed a fitting. Thats why the fitting was invented. But as advice to Adam, one approach would be to risk it anyway, and if the suit doesn't fit perfectly, have a local tailor make the necessary adjustments.

Adam you'll need a new fitting - everyone knows a navy suit fits completely differently to a grey one regardless of measurements: the differnt dyes in the wool exert different stresses on the material and alter the properties of the - I can't go on. Adam you are a plonker.

If Adam hasn't grown up or out then the measurements will be the same. Whether the shop stitches him is something only Adam can take the chance on.

Adam,Try sending the tailor a perfectly fitting suit by post and ask him to copy it and post it back to you - that usually works.

All most people here have done is prove bespoke would be wasted on them. There's more to it than just the measurements and size - a decent tailor needs you to try it on so he can adjust it for how it hangs on you. People with the same main measurements can have quite different body shapes, not to mention posture.Suggest you either find a decent UK tailor or just buy one off the peg. Unless you are a weird shape you can get a perfectly good suit for less than £200.
