Hi All,Am from the SAP consulting domain: I have received confirmation (only verbal so far) from IBM that they'd offer me Associate Partner role and at the same time the MD from Accenture offered me Highest possible Manager (level 7) with a promise to move to Senior Manager at the earliest (he says it's easier to handle organizationally if he hires as 7 & have me complete the trainings etc) . Clearly, IBM is offering higher level but am concerned when I look at the reviews of IBM GBS. Apparently they've not been doing too well. On the other hand, Accenture is doing quite well (named as a leader by Gartner for SAP application services). So my primary dilemma is: Should I sacrifice the band 10 at IBM & settle for ACN Level 7 or soon-to-be SM role (level 6)?This has been a burning question for me since several days, any comments/inputs are highly appreciated..Regards,S.

For me it also depends on money which you dont mention. Follow the money. And there's the work life stuff, can you travel where are you based etc.Don't believe the 'you'll be promoted quickly' rubbish unless explicity in your contract - very unlikely. You could find yourself:-1. new boss who didn't make that promise (reorg, they leave etc)2. Its competitve - how many others have been made similar promises or going for SM or they are out - no one would care about your empty promise if their careers are on the lineand finally, think of the exit situation. If after 2-3 years you leave are you better leaving with Assoc Partner on CV or Manager, remember if you did leave ACN after 2-3 years it is probably because you are still manager.DC

Hey,Thanks a ton for your reply! Regarding the money, IBM has not come back with the details yet but am sure it will be similar if not more than what Accenture offers. Traveling is ok for me (obviously, the less the better but can manage).Let's say, I manage to negotiate a 'Senior Manager' position with Accenture ( just an assumption but I'll tell them the alternative that I have) then do you think it becomes comparable with IBM AP?Best Regards,S.

IBM AP is a much higher grade than Accenture manager. Your salary will be much higher than Accenture manager. Also, Accenture manager will take at least 3 years to reach senior manager and you will have a basic salary of 85k as a senior manager at Accenture. So there is no comparison here. Take IBM AP offer.

In any, case I'll negotiate with ACN to move the offer to L6.S.
