Hi. Being a relatively regular visitor to this forum, it surprises me that there is never any mention of Spectrum Strat Consultants. Why is this? I know that they are highly niched in the telco sector, but what is their reputation like? Does anyone know what its like to work there? Typical assignments, international mobility etc. Cheers for any info on this seemingly elusive strat house.

Just a hint. There are two reasons for why some companies are rarely discussed: 1) they are prestigious, tier 1 strat houses, and few people work there and most discussions revolve around getting hired or work they have done 2) the company is too small and insignificant to be mentioned. Spectrum, as you can see by the quality of thier internet site, their reputation, and their turnover - fit into category 2.

Well I guess they are most famous for being the place where Lastminute.com founders Martha Lane Fox and Brent Hoberman spent their formative years. A friend there speaks highly of the place and the work they do is quite niche but really cutting edge / interesting in the digital media / online strategy space. They are of course a small consultancy by McKinsey standards, so not that surprising that there are neither thousands of candidates asking about them on the forum or dozens of consultants there posting their replies. Certainly a firm I would consider if I were thinking of a return to consulting though. Tony

I did go for an interview with Spectrum Strategy and was indeed very interested in this firm. My interview was not a success but I still think their work is very interesting. I do not know the quality of their work, but this type of telecom specialist consulting firms are very difficult from the mainstream generalists. The quality of their websites may not be indicator of the quality of their consulting work.
