Hi Hoi,I am here on the HSMP for the past two months. Haven't applied for a job yet, but will in the next few days. My husband is my HSMP visa dependant and he got a job in his field without any problem. When employers and recruitment agency heard of his visa, they were very much OK with employing him. You should check www.immigrationboards.com for examples on how some people solved this problem you think we (HSMP holders) might have. Also print out all regulations related to our visa from the Home Office web site and bring them to your interviews. Judging from my husband's experience, HSMP visa should not be a problem, especially when you read a FLR(IED) Form and the rule on page 16 titled: 3. When can I start work, which explains which visa holder can continue work while waiting for further leave to remain. It says: "You are unable to start work until you have received approval for your further leave to remain application against your IED, unles you already have leave to enter, or leave to remain in another immigration category which allows you to continue or commence full time work. Examples of these categories include existing HSMP applicants. If you are in any doubt, you should phone the Immigration and Nationality Enquiry Bureau on 0870 606 7766 or visit our website at www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk before taking up employment.Basically, this paragraph says that you as an HSMP visa holder can continue working while waiting for your one year visa to be renewed for further 3 years. Maybe you should print that document from the web and take ut with you to your interviews as well. I did for my husband, but nobody questioned his right to stay nor longevity of his visa. They already knew what HSMP was about...I hope this helps! Good luck with your search!Rose
