I would like to know how important the cover letter is for getting a call from the big guys. I have heard of applicants spending days on each cover letter but beyond paying attention to the things like grammar, spelling and couple of lines on oneself is there anything else to it? A CV gets 60 secs if the cover letter is good i hear.So much does the cover letter get- 10 secs?

In short, if your cover letter sucks, your CV has no chance!It should cover the following, probably in this order:<br>1 - What you&#39;d bring to the firm (to make them realise that you&#39;re valuable to them)<br>2 - What would motivate you to work hard for them (so that they think you&#39;ll be valued by the client)<br>3 - What you&#39;d like to learn by working for them (so they believe that you&#39;d work hard!)<br>Hope this helps

The cover letter is your value proposition and teaser for the future... the CV is history and your past. Content of the teaser heavily depends on the targeted firms style and joblevel of entrance. There are no rules otherwise all covering lettes would be equal- although reading through most junior applications one could think so ;-) best wishes veteran
