I worked in IT for 7 years, as an in-house network administrator, which included managing and implementing projects and advising on operational IT issues. I wasn't happy in my job, mainly because of the tedious nature of my work, and a whole lot of internal politics that made my working environment quite intolerable. I got a lucky break and was asked to run a small company in a totally different sector. I thought it would be a good change to get out of IT, but eight months down the line, I'm really unhappy, and I want to go back to IT. The thing is that I don't want to go back to the day-to-day operational type of IT work. I'd like to get involved in IT strategy consulting. My new job has allowed me to work in a general manager role, allowing me to see the big picture in business and think strategically. Do you think I'd be able to move into a IT strategy consulting role? And what consultancies would be the best to approach for this type of role? Thank you for your help.
