Milkround is the best route in (or it was when I graduated 8 years ago - and my involvement in recruitment suggests that nothing has changed). Competition is high for the places, but put those applications in - and have a good reason as to why you didn't apply when all your university colleagues did in the final year.A Science degree ideally suits you for consultancy as it is fairly analytical (depending on company) at the graduate intake level.I'm not sure what the stats say now, but 6 or 7 years ago, more Chemistry grads went into Management Consultancy than any other degree discipline - and many consultancy groups demand high numeracy and therefore look for science degrees. The only drawback you have is that the high competitions does tend to mean that Oxbridge graduates stand out - and your B.Sc. does mark you out as non-Oxbridge. Make your application stand out, and then impress at interview.
