A colleague pointed out an interesting website to me today – www2wk.com, also known as Aurora, which provides a free service for women to research and compare high profile companies including all the main consultancies. I had a quick look at some of the main names, and the big SI / Outsourcing companies (such as IBM and ACN) seem to come out far worse than the accounting firms and PA. Does anyone care to hazard a guess, as to why this might be ?

Aren't women supposed to be equal to men? or is it only when it comes to salaries that this question is raised...

Rebecca, I have worked in Deloitte and Accenture and I would personally say that Accenture is a better place to work for a woman. Though there is some negative feedbeck on the www2w website, Accenture have great policies that it really is trying to put into practice. Ultimately though it is difficult to work out of town and be a parent (a problem for men as well as women), which is why consulting firms get more negative feedback.
