I've been told that KPMG pay well below the market norms. Is this ture ? If so, why ?

Pay does not matter, at a consultant level taxes are high anyway and a couple of thousands here and there do not make a difference, on the long term you will be paid bonuses and salaries based on performances and you will end up making the same in any company, what you need to ask yourself are questions like, how can my career grow there, how can i learn more how happy will i be with the working conditions, how much pressure do i have and what help do i get from colleagues, how rigid is the system and will I be satisfied. If you are looking for just a salary then you will never make a good salary

So the answer to my query seems to be yes, then.

if you want a black or white, the answer is gray because I do not know, but it seems to me that you did not understand my point...you need to change the way you look at your career this is not a $5/hr working at a convenience store it is a way of life. « Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything. » George Bernard Shaw

KPMG - pay - market norms ? I do not work at KPMG but I think your question is an awkward one, and perhaps more awkward than you realise. Which market norms do you refer to? If you are attempting to benchmark average KPMG salaries by grade with average consulting salaries by grade you will run into real difficulties because KPMG is not a pure consulting firm. If you compare the cost of apples on a market stall with the average price of a piece of fruit in a market, what does that tell you about the stalls apples versus the market norm for apples? Not very much in my opinion.

I have just been offered and accepted a role at KPMG and had several consultacny offers at the same time - KPMG's offer was the best on base salary and benefits.
