Reading the threads on here, PA sounds like a great firm to work for - any negative views on PA - the downsides of working for them etc..?

As some of you may know, I work for PA, and think its a fantastic place to be due to its independence and its people focus. Some of the negatives are the expense policy is incredibly tight, and most of the work is to public sector / smaller private sector firms. On balance though, I'd recommend it as a good place to be !

The package is something that depends on what group you're in. Its really difficult to say what the payment levels would be. As for expenses, its really just minor niggles like limits of £30 on an evening meal being very strictly enforced, or alchahol not being claimable. To be honest, I wouldn't let that sway your decision.

Cheggers, thanks for the insight and was more intrigued than swayed by the expenses policy - each firm has its foibles. I realise that salary will depend on functional group but for a PC/MC what would constitute the rest of the package - pension, car etc. Any outlines would be much appreciated! KP

The negatives are they pay less. About 35K for a consultant. They are also not a top five. It you want a fun environment then that is fine but no one goes to work for the love of the job solely. <br><br>Bills need to be paid and fun comes at a price (mostly).

Total rubbish - but I&#39;ve just started as a consultant with PA at 50k. TheTruth - fun in a workplace only comes at a aprice if you have to work at Wacky Warehouse!

I&#39;d query whether PA pay more or less than anyone else. We have to compete in the market for talent like everyone else, so our salaries would be comparable. I have to say though that £35k for consultant level does seem a bit low, if true.

Cheggers, im a masters student so my knowledge vis a vis yours is rather embryonic but i do have to say that £30 for an evening meal (i presume for one) seems highly reasonable or am I highly mistaken. I also hear from other sites that if your working away (abroad0 for an extended period of time your only flown back once a month, rather that every other week at many other firms? As previously stated tho, you have done an excellent job on selling PA. Word is tho that people within PA know your true identity...is that true?

£35k is a very low estimation. I am a consultant with PA and I&#39;m paid a very reasonable salary. Add on to that the bonus prospects (a substantial part of your salary is made up of bonus) and the fact PA is employee owned, you have the potential to do very well out of PA if you are good and committed. I would like to play down the &#39;fun&#39; factor at PA. PA are incredibly committed to serving their clients - above all else. And this is taken very seriously. Rather than &#39;fun&#39;, what sets PA apart is that its employees are &#39;real&#39;people - no egos. All the people that I have met at PA are likeable and approachable, and some have become great friends. Yes, we have a laugh sometimes, but make no mistake - PA is a serious organisation.

Sorry to go all &#39;Paxman&#39; but back to the original question - salary aside what would be the other benefits of someone joing at PC and MC? Cheers KP
