Hi all.Has anyone been to a Cap "mini-assessment day" for grad entry? any hints on what happens with the case study? Obviously I'll try and know it inside out, looking for possible solutions to any problems I can highlight bedore the day, but any specific tips would be most appreciated.Any other pointers for the day in general would also be gratefully received..Thanks,Steve

Hi Sarah, which role are you interviewing for? I'm currently interviewing for a position as an IT strategist and would be happy to exchange my insights into the process thus far. Drop me a line. Cheers, Sean

Hi Sean, I've applied for the "consultant development community" grad scheme option. I'm particularly interested in supply chain management and manufacturing and distribution operations. Any general interview tips would be great! What were your impressions of the company when you went?

Sarah,I found them to be very personable and down to earth group of people. Culture is more relaxed, with a greater emphasis on work-life balance. Having worked at some other consultancies this is quite refreshing. There is more emphasis on higher value consulting with work that delivers significant ROI to clients and successful outcomes that add value. Overall, very positive and very refreshing. It's actually is causing me a bit of dilemma, since I was pretty set on joining another consulting firm and if I do get an offer from Capgemini, then it will require a difficult decision. With regards to interviews, I'm happy to pass on my experiences, although given that I'm an experienced hire and you're interviewing for a grad position, I'm not sure whether it would be equally applicable. However, I am willing to give you some input and advice from an old head. If so drop me your email and we can take this offline. Cheers and best of luck. Sean

Hello again. First round interview is literally 45 minute fairly informal interview. We started all the way back with why I chose to do the A-Levels I did and then why Nottingham uni, why my course etc etc. Wasn't sure I'd answered particularly well, but got through, so now it's down to the 4-person mini assessment day.Good luck whenever yours is.PS Sean, "We can take this offline" sounds a little too much like a cheesy line!!

Steve, why don't you just grow up. I'm just trying to pass on some advice that I have picked up in my ten years as a consultant. Is this not what the purpose of this forum is. Plus, my wife may have saomething to say about it. Sean

My apologies - it was merely intended as a little humour. I'll keep it to myself in future.

Sarah,Wish you the best of luck joining CG. They are a top notch firm to work for. CDC is a great place to start because you will be given a broad view of several parts to the organisation and from there you can develop your own preferences later on. SCM these days is not just MRD (mfg, retail, and distribution), that's only one of the service lines that CG covers within SCM. My advice to you is view your 1st interview with CG as an opportunity to get a feel for CG's collaborative culture and the 7 core values. It will help you if you understand this approach and how the values fit in. It's significantly different to a lot of the other firms and from the CDC starting point then decide where you want to go at a later date. You don't have to have a roadmap for the next 10 years in place already. One tip for later on - business cases are not always about getting the right answer, more often they are about creative solutions that show a logical method behind them. If you can defend your logic then more often than not you'll get the right answer anyway. I don't know anyone who has a monopoly on good ideas.
