Hi, I am through to the last round at Altran Tech. We already discussed some projects I will be working on when I join. But I am still not sure. The people are ok and the work seems ok. But the whole procedure took ages and in general the info I got was limited.Could any body tell me something about Altran, like: Atmosphere, career opportunities, personel development, salaries etc. Txs

I interviewed with them ~2 years ago - they had been 'snapping up' a number of consultancies, from the small groups of 10 IT consultants to those the size of Arthur D Little. When I talked with them they had ~14,000 consultants on their books, dotted around Europe - Altran exists as a lightweight umbrella over them. They have a very low mass centre with the manager role providing a cohesion throughout the organisation. That being said, the companies they have taken over exist pretty much as they did before, thus they have overlapping market presence which must lead to inefficiencies. In the last couple of years it has been reported in the press that there were some irregularities with inflation of reported revenues, causing the stock to dive from ~€30 to lower than where it is now. I would say that there is limited opportunity for advancement unless you get to the manager role and, I'm guessing here, if you want to go any higher you should probably be French ;¬)

Hi, I was offered a position as junior manager a year ago by one of Altran's subsidiary and after discussing with them what my job would actually be like, I turned down the offer. Let me explain, the job is to recruit engineers for whom you have no missions (waste their time with interviews) to get information on what they are working on where they are (the recruiter, a senior manager himself, told me to only look out for experienced hires 2-5 years exp) so that you can then call up the company they work at to offer them Altran's help to finish their project. Now, they pay well, as a manager you can make a lot of money however, I couldn't have worked for people that act like this. For me they are nothing more than a "body shopping" company with no ethics.By the way I am french myself, and you can find on the web many articles of people having worked there and describe what I wrote above in much more detail.Good luck anyway

You are totally right. Altran is not a consulting company, but a bodyshopping company. They sell interim engineers to do temporary technical work for their clients. You won't learn much about consulting and would probably leave this company disgusted after discovering what it really is.
