This question is bothering me a lot for past few months. Is it easy to move from public sector health consulting to private sector either in health or as a generalist? Some recruiters told me that I might be pigeon holed!! Any thoughts please?

Chris, you haven't really given enough info about your skills and experience here. Certainly the move to being a generalist in the private sector will depend greatly on what you have been doing previously.

Chris, from what you had described there I think you would have no problem moving into the private sector. Health is a good area to be in and with the government focus over the next couple of years on making up the current deficit your experience in cost cutting and transformation might be attractive to many consultancies. If you want to avoid working in health you should apply to consultancies that don't do it as there is a real risk you will be lured into health consulting given your experience.
