HiI have recieved offers from Accenture, IBM-BCS and Deloitte for their graduate consultancy schemes. I am trying to decide which to accept. I would be interested in peoples opinions on work-life balance and culture in these firms.Does anyone work for these companies? Could you forward your insider opinions? Are you happy with your company?Cheers

.. accenture is a big family, very much driven by complex projects with more than 200 workers (consultants;-), IBM is raelly tough managed, focus on outsourcing (business performance transformation), burocracy, no strategy consulting impetus, deloitte very much sme focus, finance related due to history, good athmosphere, great company to start with.. take care

Congratulations on your offers - what an enviable situation to be in! Looking at this message board, life ain't a box of chocolates at IBM at the moment. Accenture has a reputation for bleeding you dry in acouple of years. So that leaves - Deloitte. Good company, great atmosphere, variety of projects, responsibility early on, stimulating clients. Okay, so the money may not be the best, but there is more to life. I haven't regretted turning down Accenture for Deloitte for an instant, and I genuinely believe that you won't either.

Deloittes are head and shoulders above the other two, in terms of culture, staff management, and development opportunties. I wouldn't hesitate in joining Deloitte.

What is the Deloitte pay rate once you become consultant and then manager?

Deloitte at the moment is public sector big style. Its business model is very UK centric and mass in other industry segments is scarce. The type of public sector work at Deloitte is glorified/ mind numbing PMO type engagements ! I beleive the graduate opportunities across any of the organisations will give you an excellent consulting foundation. However, there will come a time (like with many Deloitte graduates with a few years experiece) when the pay/ training/ industry specialisation, quality of work will mean you look elsewhere -ie. Accenture.

Deloitte pay for a consultant is £32k -£40k, senior consultant £40k to £50k, manager £55k-£64k. The question should be: 1. what do Accenture pay (typically 20% more than Deloitte across grades) 2. Type of work and environment to keep me a consultant motivated and saleable (only at Accenture)

Have to agree. I am now at Deloitte and there is too much PMO work both in PS and industry. FS work is regulation based...However Accenture work you hard (but reward you well)

You figures for ACN are about 10% too high.

The figures are acurrate enough. I know someone at each level and they are in the ranges that I stated. The grad salary is on the ACN website. Perhaps your figures need updating!! No offence.

And I might add that at ACN, there are no bonuses till manager level while Deloitte pay bonuses from Senior consultant level.
